Ingela och Vi creates illustrationphotography with a rather unique touch. And above all the persons behind the lovely illustrations, Elisabeth Mĺnsson and Peter Turkalj, both have a own personal style that every fashion editor should envy.

Who are Ingela och Vi?
-L&V are Elisabeth Mĺnsson, illustrator and graphic designer and Peter Turkalj, photographer.

What was the inspiration behind your name?

-The name is a tribute to a person that needed to be acknowledged.


Démode was dazzled by your unique style - tell us about it?

-We call our work illustrationphotography - a mix between illustration, scenography, textiles and paper that is photographed. We want the craftsmanship to be visible to convey a feeling of imperfection that brings it all to life. 



The work technique is also very unique - tell us about your process? 




-It's always based on a theme, then we plan how the figures/characters are going to be placed in the environment. The figures are illustrated, the environment is assembled, the lighting is set and then it is all finally photographed. 
 



How does your heritage influence L&V's ways of expressing yourselves? 

-It's hard to say how we have come to express ourselves in this particular manner but we have always found the idea of working with paper in a 3D format interesting. As we both come from working-class backgrounds, none of us have had set references so we had to find our own way to shape our creativity. Whilst growing up Elisabeth's mother worked as a resprayer for a big toy manufacturer and as a child she always thought her mother created great art whilst working. The closest Peter came to photography was through a photo album of his family in Croatia but this became a trigger point for an urge to start experimenting with the medium.

How do you plan for a commission? 


 




-We get dressed up in a bow tie and a set of high heels and the creative process can begin! 

 
 



 What would be the ultimate project?
-Place some of our figures on the moon. Create curiosity amongst people the world over. 
 


Do you have a philosophy behind your work? 






-Our philosophy: We'd rather twist our perspectives with love than with cold esthetics.
